2 TIME WINNER CISCO DISCO

2 TIME WINNER CISCO DISCO

Cisco Disco recorded the second win of his career at Roscommon on Monday evening when he won the seven furlong handicap. This was Sunday’s first winner of 2021 and hopefully, the first of many!

This was Cisco’s fifth run of the season but he was coming into the race in good form, based on his second placed effort over the same course and distance 20 days earlier. He was sent off as the 6/1 fourth favorite in the race under Sunday jockey, Ronan Whelan.

Cisco was drawn 12 in the starting stalls which wasn’t great on paper but Ronan did extremely well to get him settled on the outside, just behind the leaders. He made noticeably good progress on the outside into third place as the runners headed into the long, sweeping bend for home.

The Roscommon straight is fair and long at just under three furlongs and Ronan decided to ask Cisco Disco for maximum effort just before the leaders hit the two furlong pole. We know that Cisco takes a few strides to hit top gear but once he did, he hit the front and never really looked like being caught.

Cisco really battled on well once he hit the front and he ran right through the line, suggesting that a mile won’t be a problem to him. He also ran straight and true, not hanging under pressure, showing that he is genuine.

A big positive that can be taken from this Roscommon success is that Cisco appears to handle all types of ground, having won here on good to yielding ground while his other success last year at Galway, came on heavy ground. He has also been placed on yielding to soft and soft to heavy ground, highlighting his versatility.

We can expect to go up in the handicap again after this effort with a predicted raise of five to six pounds. Seen as he won on this occasion though, we will be guaranteed a run wherever he goes next as last time out winners are exempt from the balloting system.

We hope you enjoyed Cisco’s success as much as we did in Sunday HQ!
